Biography of Julian Grenfell (1888-1915)

Biography of Julian Grenfell (1888-1915)
A privileged upbringing, as heir to the Desborough title, counted for nothing in the trenches of Flanders. Julian Grenfell, a professional soldier before the First World War, had a very different perspective of battle and fighting to many other soldier poets. Grenfell‚Äö?Ñ?¥s death in May 1915, and the publication of his poem, Into Battle, which coincided with the announcement of his death, make the content of this poem even more poignant and tragic. Here we provide a detailed biography of his life before the outbreak of war, his wartime experiences and his death.
