Having enjoyed an idyllic childhood with his beloved mother, Pamela, Edward - who was known to his family and friends as 'Bim' went to fight in France at the age of eighteen. Despite his youth, he became a popular officer, universally admired by all who knew him. His death, aged just nineteen, affected his mother deeply and she wrote affectionately of her son and her profound loss. We have provided here a detailed biography of the tragically short life of this promising young poet.
