Analysis of "He Went for a Soldier" by Ruth Comfort Mitchell

We are pleased to announce that, today sees the launch of a new Teacher Resource package on our web site covering the poetry of EDWARD THOMAS within the OCR AS F661 Syllabus. The titles featured are as follows:

March; Old Man; Tears; But these things also; Melancholy; The Glory; Words; Aspens; This is no case of petty right or wrong; Rain; No one so much as you; The sun used to shine; As the team's head-brass; Gone, gone again; Lights Out.

INCLUDED in the package is a 12 month subscription to 15 web-based teaching aid presentations together with access to all relevant poetry analysis, biographical content and background information from our GWLSRC digital library, all of which is able to be viewed interactively online, or printed out.

Each of the fifteen presentations contains at least eight "slides" detailing the background, language, themes, verse form, and imagery contained within each poem, plus at least one comparison with other Thomas poetry and several "Discussion Points" for use in class or as Homework Projects.

The aims of these presentations are to assist teachers - either by direct use in the classroom, or as an aid to developing other areas of study. Students should, by the time they have finished using these packages, be able to fully understand the language and verse form used, the tone and imagery being created and the situations which Thomas is describing in his poems. In addition, students should be able to pinpoint which poems make suitable comparisons from within the OCR collection and should be better prepared for their examinations.

This is just the third of our Teacher Resource Packages, adding to our existing, popular Wilfred Owen resources.
